Laura Linney's performance of weak but strong characters has earned her the title of one of the top American actors. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but Linney was raised as a single child by her single-mother, a nurse. During the summers when she was with her father, Linney developed a passion for the theatre. Her first stage experience was first through Brown University then at Juilliard School. After two years of her graduation she started an Broadway career. The following year, she began her career she was on television. In the years since, she's been involved in numerous films, television productions and stage shows. She received many accolades throughout her career which included the four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of her many nominations, she has a passion for theatre and has appeared on both screen and stage.
