I worked for months, working 12- hour days cleaning floors and tearing down wallpaper with one child strapped on my back and the others crawling inside the playpen. Ha! We were getting closer to being done, yet the project was still a way off. In this undertaking I had planned to spend a considerable amount of time and money shopping for my dream home. In order to stay within my budget, I started going to estate sales with three boys searching for diamonds in the rough. It was a weekly tradition that we would walk through garage and estate sales on Fridays and Saturdays and purchase a variety of new and old pieces. Then I would spend the rest of my time painting and sanding out in the driveway. My first impression was like... this is the moment my love for restoring furniture began. After our home was finished, I didn't want to quit! In the market in town I was able to rent a tiny space and sold some objects. In the end, I had so many pieces I didn't know what to do and my storage space was a mess. I started having open houses at my house where over 1 000 people could visit in the span of a weekend. They could purchase whatever they saw on the ground floor. Growing Days was founded in my own home. As my business flourished, so did our little family. As a young mom, I found the right balance to both start my own company and be a good mother. Growing Days just fit. Nora my fourth child was born in 2013. The direction of my business was great, but I was forced to rest for a while. I decided to slow down and stay at home, with my kids. This was just what I was looking for. The phone rang again after some time. Many people called me for help on home improvement and decorating. These people had mostly been to my home during open houses for furniture. While I was working I began adding clients one by one. It wasn't too that long before I was managing many clients and operated a profitable home improvement business. Most likely, I'd have laughed had somebody had informed me that my venture was going to be the basis for an upcoming television show on DIY Network. It's hilarious to look back to it.
